Linda McMahon makes Keith Olbermann's "World's Worst Person"

Former WWE CEO Linda McMahon and a 12-page campaign booklet she mailed to voters in Connecticut was subject to biting criticism last night on MSNBC's top-rated weeknight show, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann."

The public skewering took place during the "Worst Person in the World" segment, a nightly feature targeting individuals with whom Olbermann disagrees. The verbal assault landed McMahon, who is running for Senator in Connecticut, the not-so-coveted silver medal.

Describing Linda as the "wrestling candidate," Olbermann sarcastically pointed out how ill-timed her ad is because she champions deep-water oil rigs, which caused the ecological and economic catastrophe now facing the Gulf of Mexico.

"Offshore oil drilling will create jobs and increase energy supply without cost to the taxpayer...unless you count the death of the fish, and the beaches, and your coastline," Olbermann said mockingly. "Remember, when you see the BP gulf spill, think 'McMahon for Senate!'"

In this case, the old adage that any publicity is good publicity might stand true. Viewers predisposed to agreeing with Olbermann̢۪s liberal stance aren't going to be potential voters in the Republican primary, while the base of the Republican party often embraces those who are deemed the Worst Persons in the World.
