Samsung gets real with 3D TVs

THE 3D movie experience has found its way from theaters to the living room.
Samsung managed to beat the others in the race to come out with the first commercially available full HD 3D LED TV when it announced that the next generation television sets would hit stores this month.

Samsung will begin rolling out the LED C7000 and the BD-C6900 LED 3D TVs. Other 3D products—the LED C900, LED C8000, LCD C750, and HT-C6950W—will be launched in the second quarter of the year.

The Korean electronics giant has succeeded in elevating home entertainment by creating a new category for TV, as well as by offering the widest range of 3D products for the home, said Jay Ha, vice president of Samsung Electronics Philippines.

Also, Samsung has introduced a Blu-ray player that plays 3D movies.

With the commercial availability of Samsung’s 3D TVs, the expansion of 3D content or movie titles will soon follow.

Samsung has joined forces with DreamWorks Animation and Technicolor to accelerate the worldwide deployment of in-home 3D movies to mainstream consumers.

Samsung’s full HD 3D TVs feature unique built-in 3D processors and emitters that enable compatibility with multiple 3D standards.

The 3D TVs also feature auto 3D format conversion, which automatically detects 3D input signals from a 3D-enabled Blu-ray disc player and further enhances the signals to create the deepest and more realistic 3D experience.

The TVs come with a software that converts 2D movies into 3D, and the conversion happens in real time.

With the real-time 2D- to 3D video conversion, accurate depth mapping takes place to create images that appear natural to the eye. The result: Standard 2D content turns into glorious 3D images. And this feature can be enjoyed with just a push of a button.

Samsung 3D TV comes with lightweight sunglass style 3D Active Glasses, which features built-in emitter that communicates with the TV.

With the emitter, Samsung 3D Active Glasses creates a realistic 3D viewing experience without visual distortions.

The full HD 3D TV is the next big thing in television development. Mass consumer adoption of 3D TV has been predicted to be encompassing, with the new format bound to influence other aspects of our digital lifestyle.
