WWE News: Who's the new Intercontinental champion?

This week's angle involving WWE's Intercontinental Title played out with Drew McIntyre being "reinstated" to the Smackdown roster and regaining the IC Title.

In the opening match of tonight's Smackdown, Kofi Kingston beat Christian to capture the IC Title, which was vacated on last week's show as part of McIntyre's "firing."

After Kingston celebrated with the belt, the storyline unfolded with Drew McIntyre handing Smackdown GM Teddy Long a letter from Vince McMahon that over-ruled Long's "firing" last week. McIntyre was then given back the IC Title belt.

Caldwell's Analysis: The angle accomplished its goal of getting heat on the IC Title belt and heat on McIntyre without him having to do much talking, which isn't one of his strengths right now. Kingston vs. Christian was an exceptional ten-minute wrestling match that eventually set up nicely a potential McIntyre vs. Kingston match for the IC Title. Matt Hardy will also have to factor into the equation, but McIntyre vs. Kingston would be a good addition to the Over the Limit PPV.
